Where Did the Name Come From?
The true origin of the name Nobody’s Fault has been lost to time, but the band has a few theories. Some point to Aerosmith’s 1976 track “Nobody’s Fault,” while others trace it back to Led Zeppelin’s 1979 hit, “Nobody’s Fault But Mine.” Either way, the name has stuck — and so has the band.
Nearly 30 Years Together
Nobody’s Fault is made up of guitarist Rick Friedlander, lead vocalist William “Bill” Murphy, his brother Steve Murphy on guitar, keys, and vocals, bassist and vocalist Mark Knight, and drummer Paul Green. Now mostly in their 60s, the group has been playing together since 1997 — and the Murphy brothers and Knight go back even further, all the way to high school.
“I met Bill at 17 when we worked together at K-Mart,” Knight recalls. “We started making noise together, and the rest is history.” Today, Knight works as a laser engineer by trade, but on stage at Double Roads Tavern, he’s all bass and rock and roll.
A Band of Brothers
What sets Nobody’s Fault apart isn’t just their musicianship — it’s their bond. “We’re a band of brothers,” says Bill Murphy. “For good or bad; we fight like siblings, but love each other.”
That camaraderie is exactly what’s kept the band together for decades. “We’re good friends and share a musical bond,” Murphy explains. “We always make time to play together. We’re in it for the fun, and we enjoy our time together on stage.”
Knight echoes that sentiment. “We love what we’re doing, and we hope to keep doing it. We give our fans our best every time — you never know when the last show will be.”
Drummer Paul Green agrees that the togetherness is the real highlight. “I enjoy that we’ve all been together for so long. We communicate through music.” He’s seen the band through nearly 25 years of ups and downs. “It’s like a boot camp,” he says. “We’ve been through thick and thin and have now become a family.”
