What Is Soulshine?
“Soulshine: the radiant, positive energy of the soul that shines through a person, especially in adversity, symbolizing inner strength, joy, and authenticity.”
That spirit is at the heart of everything the band does. Soulshine Band is a harmony-centered Americana and rock band based in Southeast Florida. Formed by Thia Muilenburg in 2022, the band continues to bring music to South Florida with its core members, Thia and duo partner Nick Fallon, and drummer Tommy Strauss, along with special guests Alan Giana, Rob Voorhees, and Matt Granat.
The Songs You Love, Played With Heart
Soulshine Band delivers an entertaining mix of Americana and rock classics, including songs by:
Steely Dan, Steve Miller, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Seger, Eagles, the Grateful Dead, CSNY, Eric Clapton, Supertramp, Fleetwood Mac, Carole King, America, Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, Tom Petty, Chicago, and more.
If you grew up with these artists on the radio, this is your kind of Sunday.
Meet the Soulshine Band
Thia Muilenburg – Vocals & Guitar
A singer-songwriter with a lifelong passion for singing, writing songs, playing guitar, and the healing power of music. With a master’s degree in expressive therapies, Thia worked as a music therapist for 20+ years. Known for her beautiful vocals and acoustic rhythm guitar, she has been gigging solo and with Soulshine since 2019. Her music, including her EP “Full Circle,” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms.
Nick Fallon – Vocals, Lap Guitar & Keys
A self-taught musician with a lifelong love of singing lead and harmony, composing, and playing guitar and piano. His seminal question, “Where do I put my fingers to make the sounds in my head,” has taken him by ear from classical to jazz and many stops in between. That approach led to his unique “lap-guitar” playing style, shared by few others (Jeff Healey being one of the most notable). A Jupiter local formerly in the duo “M & N,” Nick has been playing with Soulshine since 2025.
Tommy Strauss – Drums & Percussion
A rhythm master who plays drums and percussion in Soulshine and other South Florida bands, and brings the beat on congas and other hand percussion. Tommy switched from piano to drums at age 10 and never looked back. After a 40-year business career in New Jersey, where he played in many bands, he retired and now enjoys being part of the local music community, playing with Soulshine since 2022.
Frequent Special Guests
Alan Giana – Woodwinds
A multi-talented artist and musician who plays sax, flute, fiddle, and more on the Aerophone. His career as a visual artist has brought him worldwide notoriety over the past thirty-plus years, but music has been his lifelong passion.
Robert Voorhees – Vocals & Bass
A multi-talented musician with a rich catalog of original songs. A physical therapist by trade, Robert is dedicated to collaboration and creating healing through music. Influenced by the sounds of Memphis, Nashville, and Austin, his music channels the soulful energy of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Billy Gibbons, and Hayes Carll.
Matt Granat – Guitar
A native Floridian dedicated to the craft, as heard in his soulful riffs and high-energy performances across the South Florida scene. Matt’s playing is steeped in the timeless traditions of the greats, bringing a seasoned, guitar-centric edge to every show. He also owns Granat Design, a web and graphic design firm he has operated since 1997.
